After nearly a decade, the annual Pride march is set to return to Udine, marking its first appearance in the city since 2017 and a shift back from last year’s event in Lignano Sabbiadoro.
Organizers have scheduled the march for September 26, citing concerns over extreme summer temperatures and a desire to improve accessibility. The event is being coordinated by FVG Pride, which has rotated the demonstration among different locations in the region in recent years.
In a departure from past editions, the group said it would not seek official sponsorship or patronage from regional or municipal authorities. Officials in Friuli Venezia Giulia and the city of Udine have not yet been formally notified, organizers said, adding that any institutional support would be considered only if offered independently.
A series of events is planned across the region in the months leading up to the march, forming a broader program that has already begun.
Organizers have also outlined a platform they describe as nonnegotiable, including support for gender self-determination, recognition of diverse family structures, and a focus on education, social justice and climate issues. The platform also addresses the rights of sex workers and migrants, expresses support for causes in Palestine and Iran, and promotes veganism.
