Four pioneering women in physics will take center stage next month in The Hidden Force, a theatrical production set to debut at Teatro Miela on February 11. The event, organized by the Abdus Salam International Center for Theoretical Physics (ICTP) and the Italian National Institute of Nuclear Physics (INFN), coincides with the International Day of Women and Girls in Science, an annual celebration aimed at recognizing female contributions to STEM fields.

Blending drama and history, The Hidden Force brings to life the stories of four trailblazing scientists: American astronomer Vera Rubin, who provided crucial evidence for dark matter; Austrian nuclear physicist Marietta Blau, known for her contributions to particle detection; Chinese particle physicist Chien-Shiung Wu, whose work disproved the law of conservation of parity; and Italian physicist Milla Baldo Ceolin, a pioneer in neutrino research.

Performed in Italian with English subtitles, the play offers an artistic interpretation of 20th-century physics through the lens of these remarkable women. Organizers hope the production will not only highlight their scientific achievements but also shed light on the challenges they faced in a historically male-dominated field.

Following the performance, a Q&A session will be held with the actresses and the director, providing audiences with deeper insights into both the theatrical and scientific aspects of the production.

Attendance is free, but seating is limited.
