This Sunday morning the city of Trieste woke up to the enrapturing piano tunes by Matteo Alfonso during the annual concert at dawn event.
Daylight is about to break over Trieste. The city is still asleep. And then it begins: the gentle notes of a piano tune, quiet at first, then swelling to a rousing crescendo as the sun rises higher and the beauty of Trieste is revealed in all its glory.
The maestro, Matteo Alfonso, is fully aware of the spell its piano casts. “Trieste is one of the most beautiful places in the world and it would be a challenge to find that relationship between music and landscape anywhere else,” he tells us.
The beautiful concert this year was moved from its usual spot – Molo Audace- to the enchanting walls of San Giusto Castle.

One of the spectators, Giulia Spadaro, told us that together with friends “we decided to stay up all night not to miss this beautiful event.”
“I found the concert very relaxing,” nodded Nancy Reis. “And I also loved having breakfast in Castello before the performance” said Elena Simone as the three girls made their way home after the recital.
The show is part of the summer Trieste Loves Jazz festival.
