Italy has issued a new emergency decree on 2 March, which extends most of the existing restrictions and closes all schools areas with high infection rates.

The colour-coded system, which Draghi’s government retained, ranges from the highest-risk red zones down to medium-risk orange, moderate-risk yellow, and lowest-risk white (the island of Sardinia).

A ban on travelling between regions, except for situations of necessity or emergency such as health or work, also remains in place, as does the nationwide curfew of 10 pm to 5 am.

Cinemas, theatres and concert halls can reopen in yellow zones from 27 March, under strict social distancing rules and with online reservations.

Museums in yellow zones are set to reopen at weekends, not just Monday to Friday.

Friuli Venezia Giulia’s contagion rates have been on the rise again and a new regional decree is expected to come out today.
