A new three-day cultural festival will bring leading Italian thinkers, historians and artists to the border city, extending the legacy of GO! 2025 with conversations on geopolitics, language, artificial intelligence and the Mediterranean.
One year after Gorizia and Nova Gorica shared the title of European Capital of Culture, the border city is preparing to transform that momentum into a permanent cultural project. From October 2 to 4, 2026, Gorizia will host the inaugural edition of Frontiere – Where Worlds Meet, a festival dedicated to examining the idea of borders through history, philosophy, science and the arts.
The initiative is organized by NEM Nordest Multimedia and Il Piccolo, in partnership with Laterza Publishers, the Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Gorizia, the City of Gorizia and the Friuli Venezia Giulia Region, with support from universities in Trieste, Udine and Nova Gorica. Organizers described the event as the beginning of a long-term cultural program rather than a standalone festival.
At the center of the festival will be eight lectio magistralis held at the Giuseppe Verdi Theater, each built around a pair of opposing concepts that reflect contemporary tensions. Topics range from China and the United States to Zionism and the Diaspora, young people and adults, natural and artificial intelligence, and East and West.
