The public jury will help score competitors from around the world during the opening rounds in Treviso this October.
TREVISO, Italy — The Tiramisù World Cup is inviting dessert enthusiasts from around the globe to become part of its largest-ever public jury as the international competition celebrates its 10th anniversary this October.
Organizers are seeking 130 amateur tasters to evaluate traditional and creative versions of Italy’s iconic dessert during the qualifying rounds, scheduled for Oct. 9 and 10 in the northern Italian city of Treviso.
To earn a place on the jury, applicants must first pass an online qualifying quiz that opens at 10 a.m. on Sept. 12. The 15-question test covers the competition’s official rules, the history and culture of tiramisù, and the Treviso region, where the annual event is held.
The jury, like the competition itself, is open to participants from any country. Organizers expanded the number of available places this year in response to growing international interest.
Francesco Redi, founder and organizer of the Tiramisù World Cup, said the increasing number of competitors had made it necessary to enlarge both the field of contestants and the public judging panel.
Over the competition’s decade-long history, he said, the public jury has reflected changing preferences among both bakers and tasters, with lighter and less rich recipes becoming increasingly popular. Even so, he emphasized that balance and harmony remain the defining qualities of a successful dessert.
“Above all, tiramisù must taste like tiramisù,” Redi said, echoing a principle attributed to the dessert’s original creator.
Successful jurors will be assigned to tasting tables during the qualifying heats, where they will sample and score entries prepared live by competitors.
The 2026 Tiramisù World Cup will culminate in the Grand Final from Oct. 9 to 11 in Treviso. Visitors will also have the opportunity to purchase tiramisù made by previous world champions at the city’s historic Loggia dei Cavalieri.
