A sharp Atlantic cold front is expected to move across Friuli Venezia Giulia overnight Wednesday into Thursday, bringing strong winds, heavy rain and an abrupt drop in temperatures, according to regional authorities.

The Civil Protection agency has issued a yellow weather alert from 9 p.m. Wednesday to 6 a.m. Thursday, warning of powerful northerly gusts across the region, particularly between mountainous areas and the Adriatic coast.

Forecasters say precipitation will intensify late বুধবার, becoming widespread and at times heavy overnight. Snow levels are expected to fall from about 1,200 meters to around 500 meters, with possible light snowfall on the Karst Plateau above 300 meters.

Conditions are expected to remain unsettled through Thursday, with overcast skies, below-average temperatures and strong winds at higher elevations. By Friday, the weather will stay mostly cloudy, with moderate winds in lowland areas and stronger, colder conditions persisting in the mountains.

Officials have also warned of an increased avalanche risk in alpine areas, where fresh snow and wind may create unstable conditions.
