On Wednesday, March 4, a spring series celebrating instruments and the musicians who study them will open in Trieste, the result of an ongoing collaboration between the Civico Museo Teatrale Carlo Schmidl and the Conservatorio Giuseppe Tartini.

Titled “Le Stanze della Musica” (“The Rooms of Music”), the Spring 2026 edition will once again take place at Palazzo Gopcevich, the museum’s home overlooking the Canal Grande. The format, introduced in previous seasons, combines a guided visit through the museum’s collection with live presentations by students from the Tartini Conservatory and their instructors. Each week focuses on one or more instruments from the museum’s holdings, offering historical context alongside demonstrations of technique and repertoire.

The series runs every Wednesday in March and April, with the exception of April 8. Events are scheduled twice each day: at 11 a.m., primarily for school groups — with particular attention to music-focused programs — and at 5:30 p.m. for the general public. The morning sessions require advance reservations for schools and are offered at a reduced ticket price of one euro per student.

The opening program on March 4 will spotlight the brass family. Students of trumpet, trombone, French horn and tuba will guide visitors through the evolution and mechanics of the instruments, joined by their teachers, Nicola Damin, Andrea Caretta and Massimiliano Morosini.

Subsequent Wednesdays will turn to other sections of the orchestra and beyond: accordion (March 11, with Corrado Rojaz); double bass (March 18, with Stefano Sciascia); piano (March 25, with Reana De Luca); harp (April 1, with Nicoletta Sanzin); clarinet (April 15, with Domenico Foschini); strings (April 22, with Federico Magris and Sinead Nava); and oboe and bassoon (April 29, with Pietro Milella and Sergio Lazzeri).

Admission to the afternoon events is included in the regular museum ticket: 5 euros full price, 4 euros reduced, and 1 euro for students; children under six enter free.

Further information is available through the museum’s website and by email at museoschmidl@comune.trieste.it.
