The regional government of Friuli Venezia Giulia has approved a preliminary plan to provide €1.49 million in emergency aid to 32 municipalities affected by severe weather in November 2025. The funding, which ranges from €20,000 to €100,000 per municipality, is intended to support local administrations in managing recovery efforts and ongoing public services.

“This measure allows the region to act promptly in support of municipalities hit by last November’s storms, allocating extraordinary resources and introducing necessary exceptions to ensure administrative continuity and emergency management,” said Pierpaolo Roberti, regional councillor for local autonomy.

The proposed legislation outlines a series of measures aimed at easing the financial and administrative burdens on affected municipalities. These include the suspension of administrative penalties, greater flexibility in personnel spending, and provisions to simplify electoral procedures, such as extending voting into Monday hours, raising the age limit for election workers from 70 to 75, and enabling digital submission of candidate lists and official communications.

The plan also addresses public safety and infrastructure. It proposes renewed funding for private security and surveillance systems for businesses, including unfulfilled applications from 2025. To further support smaller municipalities, those with fewer than 5,000 residents will be allowed to exclude the cost of the municipal secretary from personnel spending limits starting in 2026.

The bill is now set to move to the Council of Local Autonomies for further review before final approval.
