This weekend’s stretch of mild, sunlit weather with daytime highs reaching 11 degrees Celsius across Friuli Venezia Giulia—offered a welcome pause in the heart of winter. Along the region’s coastline, from Trieste’s Barcola waterfront to the quieter stretches near Duino and Grado, residents and visitors alike took advantage of the rare conditions. Inland, parks and town squares were similarly lively, as people embraced an atmosphere that felt closer to early spring than late December.
