Public transit users in Trieste may face significant disruptions on Friday, Dec. 12, as a 24-hour national strike is expected to affect bus services and customer-service operations across the city.
Trieste Trasporti, the local transport operator, announced that members of the regional branch of the Filt-CGIL union have joined the nationwide action, which will involve driving staff as well as technical and administrative employees. The walkout is scheduled to last the entire day.
Despite the strike, the company said that all services normally guaranteed by law will continue to operate during the standard protection windows: from 6 to 9 a.m. and from 1 to 4 p.m. Outside those hours, delays, cancellations, and reduced staffing at service counters are likely.
Notices about the strike have been posted on the websites of Trieste Trasporti and Tpl Fvg, the regional transport consortium. Alerts are also being displayed on electronic bus-stop signs and on screens inside buses currently operating on urban routes.
Authorities and transport officials are urging the public to share the information widely to help minimize inconvenience for commuters.
