The city of Trieste will host the rescheduled Trieste Drone Show on the evenings of Friday, September 19, and Saturday, September 20, 2025, over the San Giusto Basin in front of Piazza Unità d’Italia.
The event, a choreographed display of non-polluting illuminated drones accompanied by music, was originally planned for August 14 but was postponed due to adverse weather. City officials announced traffic and parking restrictions in anticipation of the large crowds expected to attend.
According to Ordinance No. 913-25, parking and stopping bans will be enforced on Via Giulio Cesare from midnight on Wednesday, September 17, through 8 p.m. on Sunday, September 21, or until the measures are no longer deemed necessary. The restrictions apply to a 40-meter stretch near the entrance to the municipal wholesale fruit and vegetable market. Vehicles in violation will be subject to removal.
On the night of the performance, traffic will also be temporarily halted between 9:15 p.m. and 10 p.m. along portions of the city’s waterfront, including Riva del Mandracchio, Riva Caduti per l’Italianità, and Riva Tre Novembre, between Via di Mercato Vecchio and Piazza Nicolò Tommaseo.
Exemptions will be made for emergency and law enforcement vehicles, as well as vehicles authorized by event organizers. The city noted that additional changes may be introduced by local police or other authorities as required on the day of the event.
The Trieste Drone Show is part of the city’s cultural programming and is expected to draw significant public interest, offering an alternative to traditional fireworks with an environmentally friendly light display.
