The Municipality of Trieste has announced that atmospheric ozone levels are expected to exceed the designated attention threshold beginning today, Thursday, June 19, and continuing through Sunday, June 22, according to forecasts from the Regional Environmental Protection Agency of Friuli Venezia Giulia (ARPA-FVG).

In line with the City’s Air Quality Action Plan, approved in 2013, the alert is being issued in response to anticipated concentrations of ozone (O₃) surpassing 120 micrograms per cubic meter — the level at which precautionary measures are recommended, particularly for vulnerable population groups such as children, the elderly, and individuals with respiratory conditions.

The alert is attributed to the meteorological conditions expected over the coming days, which are likely to contribute to the accumulation of ozone in the atmosphere.

Municipal authorities are advising residents, especially those in sensitive categories, to adopt appropriate precautions. These may include limiting prolonged outdoor activities during peak hours and ensuring adequate hydration and ventilation indoors.

No immediate restrictions have been imposed, but local health officials will continue to monitor the situation closely in coordination with ARPA-FVG. Updates will be provided as needed.
