Starting June 1, a slate of seasonal maritime transport services will gradually launch across Friuli Venezia Giulia, as part of the region’s annual summer mobility plan. The announcement came Thursday from Cristina Amirante, the Regional Councilor for Infrastructure, who confirmed that the routes, coordinated by public transport consortium TPL FVG, will begin operations in the first two weeks of the month following the completion of subcontracting procedures.
The services are part of a broader Service Contract between the regional government and the company tasked with managing public transport across the unified regional basin.
Key summer routes include:
- Lignano–Grado, running from June 1 through October 12, with the exception of weekday Mondays between September 1 and October 12.
- Marano–Lignano, launching June 5 and operating daily until September 14, then on weekends and public holidays until September 28.
- Monfalcone–Trieste, active from June 7 to September 6.
- Trieste–Muggia, the annual evening service, will be intensified from June 14 to September 14 to accommodate summer demand.
Fares have also been confirmed for the 2025 season:
- Trieste–Sistiana: €7.40 one-way; €12.50 round-trip. Discounted multi-ride tickets include 10 trips for €29.60 and 50 trips for €59.20.
- Marano–Lignano, which again this year includes evening sailings: €4 one-way; €7.60 round-trip. Ten-ride passes cost €16, with 50 rides priced at €32.
As for the highly anticipated Trieste–Grado connection, Amirante noted that a new operator has been selected through a subcontracting process. The service is expected to begin in the coming weeks, pending certification and authorization of the new vessel slated to run the line.
Regional officials have confirmed the maritime service providers for the 2025 summer season, though the full list has yet to be released.
These services, many of which are popular with both tourists and commuters, are part of Friuli Venezia Giulia’s broader strategy to promote sustainable and integrated transportation options along its Adriatic coastline during the busy summer months.
