Trieste’s City Planning Commissioner, Michele Babuder, revealed a comprehensive plan for the redevelopment of the Barcola waterfront through the newly launched participatory platform. The initiative, under Project Co.Re, seeks active citizen engagement, particularly in shaping crucial aspects like mobility, transportation, and public connections.

Commissioner Babuder emphasized the significance of this community involvement, especially following recent adverse weather events that inflicted damage along the coastline. The Co.Re project, a collaborative effort between the Municipality of Trieste and the Region of Friuli Venezia Giulia, is designed to address both the wet and dry components of the area.

In a bid to gather diverse perspectives, the Trieste City Planning Department has introduced an online questionnaire, available until January 7, 2024. Interested participants can contribute their insights and preferences on the Participatory Platform website.

The overarching goals of the Co.Re project include safeguarding and expanding the coastal region, promoting sustainable development, enhancing services for residents and visitors, fostering environmental quality, and encouraging sustainable mobility practices.

Commissioner Babuder expressed gratitude to the various contributors involved in the platform’s creation and encouraged citizens to actively participate in shaping the future of the Barcola waterfront.
