The city of Trieste has expanded its urban security infrastructure with the installation of 11 new surveillance cameras and seven additional public Wi-Fi access points as part of the second phase of a municipal initiative aimed at improving public safety and digital connectivity.
The new cameras have been installed in the Roiano neighborhood, while the Wi-Fi network has been extended with three access points in Roiano, two in Piazzale Straulino and two in Piazza Libertà. The upgrades are intended to support law enforcement and local police by providing higher-quality images through a fiber-optic network while also improving internet access for residents and visitors.
The latest installations follow the addition of three surveillance cameras and a public Wi-Fi hotspot in Piazza Puecher earlier this year. The city says the expanded TriesteFreeSpots network is designed to make public spaces and areas of interest more accessible.
Local business owners in the affected neighborhoods welcomed the new surveillance system, saying the added cameras provide an increased sense of security for their businesses.
