Police officers and firefighters gathered in Piazza Unità d’Italia on Thursday morning to honor Francesco Imprezzabile, a Milan municipal police motorcycle officer who was killed while on duty last month.

The ceremony took place outside the Prefecture building at the same time as Imprezzabile’s funeral in Milan. Representatives of the Trieste Municipal Police, national law enforcement agencies and the fire brigade observed the tribute, which featured a prolonged sounding of emergency sirens as a mark of respect.

Among those attending were Deputy Mayor Serena Tonel, City Councillor for Public Safety Caterina de Gavardo, Trieste Municipal Police Commander Walter Milocchi and Regional Councillor for Local Authorities, Public Administration, Security and Immigration Pierpaolo Roberti.

The tribute was part of a coordinated initiative across Italy, with municipal police forces holding symbolic ceremonies to express solidarity with Imprezzabile’s family and colleagues.

Imprezzabile, 39, served as a motorcycle officer with the Milan Municipal Police. He died on June 22 while pursuing a vehicle that had failed to stop at a police checkpoint.
