Trieste Trasporti, the operator of the historic Trieste–Opicina tram line on behalf of the Municipality of Trieste, announced that scheduled driver training and testing activities will take place along the route this week as part of preparations for the line’s return to service.

Beginning Wednesday, June 10, the tests will also extend to the section of Via Martiri della Libertà between Piazza Casali and Piazza Dalmazia. According to the company, the activities will include inspections of the tram infrastructure and operational driving tests using the tram cars.

Residents who have vehicles parked on the tram tracks in areas where parking is prohibited have been asked to remove them to allow technicians to carry out safety checks and conduct the planned test runs without interruption.

The Trieste–Opicina tramway, one of the city’s most recognizable transportation landmarks, has been undergoing a lengthy process of restoration and safety verification ahead of the resumption of regular operations.
