Trieste’s main organized supporters’ group, Curva Nord Trieste, held a press conference at Hotel Milano to launch a civic awareness campaign aimed at mobilizing public support for Pallacanestro Trieste, the city’s Serie A basketball club, whose institutional future the group described as uncertain.
Pallacanestro Trieste currently competes in Italy’s top basketball division, Serie A1, and plays its home games at the PalaTrieste arena, which attracts approximately 5,500 spectators each matchday.
Representatives of Curva Nord Trieste said the initiative stems from concerns about the club’s continuity and ownership stability, although they did not specify the exact nature of those concerns. The group emphasized that the campaign should be seen as a proactive civic effort rather than a protest.
The campaign began with a choreography display during the home match against Brescia, followed within 48 hours by the installation of 6-by-3-meter billboards along major city streets. Starting the following week, the group announced the distribution of an initial print run of 1,000 posters, intended for bars, offices, shops, and private homes across the province of Trieste.
Curva Nord Trieste also announced plans to convene a roundtable open to all parties historically connected to the club, including former managers, sponsors, and supporters, with the goal of coordinating efforts around a shared vision for the club’s future. Additional initiatives were described as being in preparation, pending further developments in the club’s situation.
At the time of the press conference, the club’s current ownership and management had not issued a public statement in response to the campaign. Further updates are expected as the situation develops.
