Trieste’s urban bus network will begin operating on its winter timetable on Monday, Sept. 14, introducing route changes, expanded services and the return of several school lines, according to Trieste Trasporti.
The winter schedule will remain in effect until the launch of the summer timetable in 2027. Updated timetables became available online on Sept. 11 through the websites of Trieste Trasporti and TPL FVG.
Among the most significant changes is the reorganization of Line 5, which absorbs the former Line 18. The route now extends from Piazza del Perugino through Viale D’Annunzio, Piazza Foraggi and Viale dell’Ippodromo before reaching its new terminus in Via Cumano. The redesign also increases service frequency along the section previously covered by Line 18.
Line 19 has also been expanded. Buses will now continue to Piazzale 11 Settembre in the Barcola district, passing through the Porto Vivo–Porto Vecchio redevelopment area. The line will additionally operate on Sundays and public holidays, departing from Largo della Barriera Vecchia.
For passengers traveling between Muggia and Trieste, Line 20 will now terminate at Largo Città di Santos near the central railway station. Selected express services will stop at all stations between Muggia and Aquilinia before serving only major stops into the city, including Valmaura, Piazza Foraggi, Largo Sonnino, Largo della Barriera Vecchia and Piazza Oberdan.
Other adjustments include four additional weekday trips on Line 33 to improve access to the ISIS Nautico Galvani school, while Line 36 will continue operating only on weekends through the end of September before resuming weekend service next May.
The seasonal Line 70 between Aurisina and Sistiana will be suspended for the winter, while school routes 55, 56, 57 and 58 return to their regular service with the start of the academic year.
Trieste Trasporti said temporary diversions remain in place on Lines 28, 29, 30 and 64 because of ongoing roadworks, and passengers are advised to check updated route information before traveling.
