Nearly 280 pilgrims from Friuli are set to travel to Rome this month to participate in the Jubilee, one of the most significant observances in the Catholic Church.
The first group of 126 will depart on Tuesday, Aug. 26, followed two days later by another 153 pilgrims. The faithful will be accompanied by Archbishop Riccardo Lamba of Udine, Archbishop Emeritus Andrea Bruno Mazzocato, and eight priests of the diocesan clergy. The group is expected to return on Saturday, Aug. 30.
During their stay, the pilgrims will take part in guided visits and prayer, highlighted by the traditional passage through the Holy Door of St. Peter’s Basilica in the Vatican.
Archbishop Lamba described the journey as both spiritual and communal. “There will be families, catechists, those engaged in charitable work, and parishioners not affiliated with formal groups,” he said, emphasizing that the pilgrimage represents “the People of God traveling together as a community.”
The archbishop also noted that the participation of both the current and former leaders of the archdiocese underscored a message of unity within the Church.
