A new initiative at Ubik Bookstore is turning reading into a delightful adventure for young children. “The Book Carpet,” a special reading space for children ages 1 to 5, is set to bring stories and imagination to life in an engaging and interactive way. The bookstore, located in the heart of Trieste’s Galleria Tergesteo, is inviting families to experience a unique blend of storytelling and play.

The program will be led by Marzia Mangano, a seasoned bookseller with a deep passion for children’s literature. Mangano, known for her expertise in the world of children’s books, will be on hand to guide the little ones through the pages of beautifully illustrated picture books. The sessions are designed not just to foster a love of reading, but to immerse children in stories that spark creativity and joy.

Starting this Sunday, February 23, “The Book Carpet” will host its first event for children ages 1 to 3. On March 9, the sessions will expand to include slightly older children, aged 3 to 5. Both sessions will take place at 4:30 PM, with families invited to sit on soft, green “magical” carpets in the children’s area of the bookstore.

Each event will last about an hour, providing children with an opportunity to sit together, listen to stories, and explore new worlds through the pages of their favorite books. For parents and grandparents, it will be a chance to rediscover timeless classics as well as uncover new, hidden literary gems.

“The Book Carpet” offers much more than just an afternoon of reading; it’s a chance to create memories and foster a love for literature in a fun, relaxed environment. Whether it’s their first exposure to books or they’re already budding readers, the experience promises to be an enriching one for every child who participates.

Ubik’s “The Book Carpet” will take place a couple of Sundays each month, making it an ongoing event for families to look forward to. For those in Trieste or visiting the region, it’s a must-see destination for families looking to nurture their children’s creativity while enjoying the company of fellow book lovers.
