The air connection between Trieste and Frankfurt is scheduled to resume on March 28, 2027, with the start of the summer flight season, Lufthansa Group has confirmed.

The service, operated by Air Dolomiti, will offer two daily flights, for a total of 13 weekly frequencies, restoring a direct link between Friuli Venezia Giulia and one of Germany’s major international aviation hubs.

The Frankfurt connection provides access to hundreds of European and intercontinental destinations, serving both tourism and business travel in the region.

The route will be suspended temporarily from Oct. 25, 2026, through March 27, 2027. According to the airline, the interruption reflects operational challenges affecting international aviation, rising fuel costs and adjustments to its winter flight schedule.

Massimiliano Fedriga, the president of Friuli Venezia Giulia, welcomed the announcement, saying the connection was important for the region’s access to international markets. He said the regional government would continue working with Lufthansa Group and Trieste Airport to establish a more stable and continuous flight schedule.
