Aeroitalia will operate additional flights between Trieste and the Sardinian airports of Olbia and Alghero during the Christmas and New Year holiday period, expanding travel options between northeastern Italy and the island.
The special services are scheduled for Dec. 23, 24, 26, 29 and 30, 2026, and Jan. 2, 4 and 6, 2027, with flights operating on different dates for each destination.
Flights between Trieste and Olbia are scheduled for Dec. 24 and 30 and Jan. 2 and 6. Departures from Trieste are scheduled for 11:55 a.m. on Dec. 24, 8 a.m. on Dec. 30 and Jan. 6, and 12:30 p.m. on Jan. 2. Return flights from Olbia are scheduled for 2:25 p.m. on Dec. 24 and 2:50 p.m. on Dec. 30 and Jan. 6.
The Trieste–Alghero route will operate on Dec. 23, 26 and 29 and Jan. 4. Departures from Trieste are scheduled for 11:55 a.m. on Dec. 23 and 29 and Jan. 4, and 10:30 a.m. on Dec. 26. Return flights are scheduled for 2:25 p.m. on Dec. 23 and 29 and Jan. 4, and 1 p.m. on Dec. 26.
The additional services are intended to accommodate increased demand for travel during the holiday season, when many people travel to visit family or take year-end trips.
Gaetano Intrieri, Aeroitalia’s chief executive, said the flights would expand the airline’s presence in Sardinia and provide additional travel options during a period of particularly high demand.
Silvio Pippobello, chief executive of the companies managing the Alghero and Olbia airports, welcomed the initiative, saying the new connections would help meet seasonal travel needs and serve visitors arriving for New Year’s celebrations. He said the initiative could also pave the way for extending the routes into the wider winter season.
