The Friuli Venezia Giulia regional government has approved the 2026 funding allocation for local Pro Loco associations, distributing a total of €1 million to support their operations and tourism promotion activities.
The funding follows a proposal submitted by the regional branch of the National Union of Pro Loco Associations (Unpli Friuli Venezia Giulia) and is provided under Regional Law 17 of 2025.
Of the total allocation, €809,240 will fund the activities and administrative operations of local Pro Loco offices, €12,200will support the offices of Pro Loco consortia, and €178,560 will cover the operating costs of Unpli Friuli Venezia Giulia.
Regional Councillor for Productive Activities and Tourism Sergio Emidio Bini said the associations play a significant role in promoting the region by showcasing local traditions, culture and food while attracting visitors throughout the year. He said supporting the organizations also helps strengthen tourism in smaller towns and lesser-known areas of Friuli Venezia Giulia.
More than 240 Pro Loco associations, supported by over 22,000 volunteers, are affiliated with Unpli Friuli Venezia Giulia. Each year, they organize hundreds of cultural, food and community events across the region.
Beyond coordinating the network of associations, Unpli Friuli Venezia Giulia provides training, technical support and collaboration with regional institutions and PromoTurismoFVG, helping to promote the region through coordinated tourism initiatives.
Regional officials said the funding reflects the government’s continued commitment to supporting volunteer organizations that contribute to local development and year-round tourism across Friuli Venezia Giulia.
