Officials from Friuli Venezia Giulia are traveling to the United States this weekend for a series of meetings and business events aimed at promoting the region and expanding its international reach.

From April 20 to 24, the governor of Friuli Venezia Giulia region, Massimiliano Fedriga, will travel to Washington and New York for a series of diplomatic, economic and cultural engagements aimed at strengthening ties with the United States.

Accompanied by Sergio Emidio Bini, the regional councilor for productive activities, Mr. Fedriga is scheduled to meet Italian and American officials, including Italy’s ambassador to Washington and representatives at the International Monetary Fund and the U.S. State Department. Discussions are expected to focus on financial cooperation and transatlantic partnerships.

On April 22, Mr. Fedriga will hold meetings on Capitol Hill with members of the Italian American congressional community. The delegation will then travel to New York to attend an event hosted by the National Italian American Foundation, preceded by an economic forum involving Italian and American businesses.

The trip also includes a cultural component. At the Italian Embassy in Washington, a performance of “Orcolat ’76,” by Simone Cristicchi, will mark the 50th anniversary of the 1976 earthquake that struck Friuli, a disaster that prompted international support, including from the United States.

The visit will conclude at the United Nations with meetings involving Italy’s permanent mission and the Italian Consulate in New York, as regional officials seek to position Friuli Venezia Giulia within a broader international framework.
