interview: Alessia Rosolen, FVG councilor for labor, education, and research
The regional government of Friuli Venezia Giulia has approved a €2 million funding package to expand school-related extracurricular services for the 2026 and 2027 academic years. The measure supports pre- and post-school care, integrated afternoon activities, campus programs, and summer centers for primary and lower secondary students.
The initiative was presented by Regional Education councilor Alessia Rosolen, who said the funding aims to strengthen services that help families balance work and caregiving responsibilities. The measure follows the regional law on social innovation and territorial attractiveness approved in late 2025.
Eligible applicants are municipalities that host a comprehensive school. Agreements must involve both the municipality and the school and may also include neighboring municipalities and parochial schools; 2 percent of the available funds is reserved for parochial nursery schools.
The Region has allocated €1 million for 2026 and €1 million for 2027. Funding will be distributed with 30 percent shared equally among participating municipalities and 70 percent allocated based on student enrollment, with additional provisions for small or geographically disadvantaged municipalities.
A webinar for local administrators is scheduled for 23 February 2026.
