The regional government of Friuli Venezia Giulia has approved a new allocation of funds to support women-led businesses, reflecting ongoing efforts to promote gender equality through concrete economic measures.

“Gender parity must be pursued through actions—through tools, including economic ones, that can help foster the growth of women’s entrepreneurship as a dynamic and successful component of companies in Friuli Venezia Giulia,” said Sergio Emidio Bini, regional councillor for Productive Activities and Tourism, following the approval.

The measure directs €1 million from the regional budget toward non-repayable grants for projects led by women entrepreneurs. The funding continues the evaluation of applications submitted under a call issued on December 29, 2023, which follows a rolling, province-based procedure with proposals reviewed in the order they were received.

The program’s initial budget of €1.1 million has steadily grown to €5.287 million over the past year. With the latest allocation, the total funding now stands at €6.287 million.

Under the approved distribution, €140,887 is allocated to Gorizia, €232,964 to Trieste, and €626,148 to Udine. No new resources are assigned to Pordenone, where eligible applications were already fully covered by previous allocations. The distribution is based on the number of active businesses registered at the end of the previous year and needs communicated by local chambers of commerce.

With the new funds, all eligible applications from Udine, and previously from Pordenone, are now fully financed. In Gorizia, approximately 77 percent of eligible projects can be funded, while Trieste sees coverage of about 80 percent—figures that may rise as administrative reviews continue.
