The regional government of Friuli Venezia Giulia announced a series of road safety initiatives for 2026 aimed at educating children, students, and the broader public about safe driving and responsible mobility.

Cristina Amirante, the regional councillor for Infrastructure and Territory, said the programs are intended to “raise awareness of road safety from an early age” and to encourage community participation in preventive measures.

The 2026 calendar includes a new edition of the initiative Uniti per la Sicurezza Stradale (“United for Road Safety”), organized in collaboration with the Full Sport Car Committee of Udine. The program will extend across the region, offering educational and awareness activities designed for schools, families, and local communities.

Events will be free and open to the public, Ms. Amirante said. They will include practical driving exercises, educational workshops for students, and informational sessions led by experts and law enforcement officials. The aim is to promote responsible behavior on the road and foster a culture of sustainable mobility.

“Road safety is not only a matter of infrastructure but also of education and awareness,” Ms. Amirante added. “Targeting younger generations represents a tangible investment in reducing accidents and building a safer future. With Uniti per la Sicurezza Stradale, the region reaffirms its commitment to safer, more responsible mobility, engaging schools, families, and local communities.”

The regional government has allocated €40,000 to organize the 2026 events, with €25,000 provided in 2025 and €15,000 in 2026. The funding is intended to ensure at least one event in each territorial area of the region.

These initiatives are part of the broader Regional Road Safety Plan, which seeks to improve public understanding of risk factors and advance prevention through collaboration with schools, law enforcement, and other local organizations.
