On Thursday, October 23, at 6 p.m., the Ubik Bookstore in Trieste’s Galleria del Tergesteo will host the presentation of Identitalie / Identitalies (Vita Activa Nuova, 2024), the latest work by writer and translator Laila Wadia.

The event will introduce readers to the book’s dual nature: a collection of bilingual poems and a selection of poetic voices reflecting a world in motion. With her trademark mix of irony and depth, Wadia explores themes of identity, language, and translation as spaces of encounter, dialogue, and mutual understanding.

Born in India and long based in Trieste, Wadia has established herself as a distinctive voice in contemporary Italian literature. Her work often bridges cultures and languages, reflecting her personal journey and the cosmopolitan character of her adopted city.
