The Friuli Venezia Giulia Region marked its presence at this year’s Barcolana, the world’s largest sailing regatta, with the inauguration of the “Io sono FVG” pavilion in Trieste’s Piazza Unità d’Italia. The initiative, regional officials said, aims to promote the territory’s image and the quality of its local products through the regional brand.

“The Region’s participation in the Barcolana is an opportunity to promote, through the ‘Io sono FVG’ brand, our territory and the excellence of our production,” said Governor Massimiliano Fedriga at the opening ceremony. He was joined by Sergio Emidio Bini, Regional Councillor for Productive Activities and Tourism.

The pavilion features a space for small events, a display of official merchandise, a VIP area, and a tasting corner open to the public. “Given last year’s success, we decided to replicate this elegant structure to showcase the best of our region,” Councillor Bini said. “The Barcolana, the world’s largest and most attended regatta, attracting hundreds of thousands of visitors to Trieste each year, is an essential stage for promoting Friuli Venezia Giulia.”

As part of the event, officials also inaugurated Solaris, a 64-foot institutional sailboat branded “Io sono FVG,” which will compete in Sunday’s regatta.

The Barcolana, held annually in Trieste’s Gulf, has grown into one of the region’s most emblematic events, combining sport, tourism, and culture to highlight the spirit and identity of Friuli Venezia Giulia.
