Interview: FVG governor, Massimiliano Fedriga

The Eagles Futsal Cividale, a team competing in Italy’s national Serie B futsal championship, presented their new jerseys on Tuesday in Trieste, an event that local officials framed as a reflection of the team’s role as a cultural ambassador for the region.

“It is significant when a club becomes an ambassador for its community, not only through sporting success but also by carrying the history and identity of the territory on its jersey,” said Massimiliano Fedriga, governor of the Friuli Venezia Giulia region, during the presentation. “This strengthens the sense of belonging and consolidates the bond between sport and community.”

The unveiling was attended by several representatives of regional sports organizations, including Christian Vaccher, vice president of the regional committee of the National Amateur League.

Governor Fedriga emphasized that the promotion of sports extends beyond the competitive sphere. “It means health, prevention, and collective well-being,” he said, citing studies that link consistent athletic activity with improved quality of life.

Friuli Venezia Giulia, he added, continues to invest heavily in athletics, supporting local clubs and expanding opportunities for citizens of all ages to participate in sports.

“The response of communities, families, and young people who choose to get involved in sports associations is extraordinary,” Fedriga said. “It is a precious resource that we must continue to cultivate and strengthen in order to keep growing.”
