Golf Club Trieste will host the inaugural “Uno Swing per le Cure” (A Swing for Care) on Saturday, September 27, 2025, a charity golf tournament aimed at supporting the oncology and hematology departments of Ospedale Maggiore, part of ASUGI (Azienda Sanitaria Universitaria Giuliano Isontina). The event is organized under the patronage of ASUGI and the Italian League for the Fight Against Cancer (LILT), with the goal of turning sport into a gesture of solidarity.

The initiative stems from the personal experience of many who have faced cancer, either directly or through loved ones. Fiorella Massa, the tournament’s organizer, shared her own story: “Golf helped me rediscover a sense of normality, to share lighthearted moments, and to challenge myself beyond the illness. From that experience came the idea of a tournament that could unite sport, health, solidarity, and hope.”

Funds raised will be used to support patient care in practical ways, including:

  • Ergonomic and heated chairs for infusion and chemotherapy sessions.
  • Cooling caps to help prevent hair loss during chemotherapy.
  • Training programs for healthcare staff in communication, empathy, pain management, and palliative care.
  • Psychological support and services to assist patients and families through the treatment process.

The tournament is structured to accommodate both experienced golfers and casual participants:

  • 18-hole Stableford tournament, valid for handicap for registered golfers, with prizes for the overall winner, top two in three categories, and additional awards.
  • 9-hole Stableford tournament, not valid for handicap, open to registered golfers, with a prize for the winner.
  • Putting contest open to both golfers and non-golfers, with prizes for winners in each category.
  • raffle with a variety of prizes.
  • The day concludes with a prize ceremony, toast, and dessert.

With the motto “Per Te, per Noi, per Loro” (“For You, for Us, for Them”), the tournament aims to become an annual tradition that supports hospital departments, raises community awareness, and reinforces shared commitment to patient care.
