As the new school year begins, educators across the city are being invited to take part in an event aimed at strengthening ties between schools and the local cultural community.
On Monday, Sept. 15, from 5 to 7 p.m., the Patto di Trieste per la Lettura (Trieste Reading Pact) will host a gathering at the auditorium of the Iqbal Masih Comprehensive Institute in Melara, followed by a session at the nearby Marinelli Municipal Library. The meeting is intended for teachers of all grade levels and will highlight educational and cultural projects available to schools in the coming months.
The initiative, supported by the Municipality of Trieste through its civic libraries and literary museums, will feature presentations from the signatories of the Reading Pact alongside representatives from local institutions. Among them are the Hortis, Gambini, Marinelli and Mattioni libraries, as well as the Petrarchesco Piccolomineo and LETS Literature Trieste museums.
Organizers describe the event as a chance for educators to discover the range of literary and cultural programming on offer, while also fostering collaboration among schools, libraries, museums, associations and other community groups. Admission for teachers is free.
The network of cultural organizations participating in the Reading Pact is wide-ranging. Partners include the Cultural Association L’Ingranaggio, the Bora Museum Association, Senza Confini Brez Meja ODV, Teatro Miela, Editoriale Scienza, Libreria Lovat, WWF Friuli Venezia Giulia and several publishing houses, among others. The Slovenian National and Study Library and the MiniMu children’s museum are also part of the initiative.
Practical details have been provided for attendees: bus lines 22 and 25 connect to the venue, and street parking is available near the entrance.
