From October 18 to 20, Via Mercatovecchio in the center of Udine will transform into a showcase of Friuli Venezia Giulia’s culinary and wine making traditions. The event, titled Io sono Friuli Venezia Giulia-Blancs, will feature 70 local producers inside a 900-square-meter transparent pavilion.
The exhibition is part of the 26th edition of Ein Prosit, the long-running food festival that draws internationally renowned chefs to the city each year. Organizers say the tasting fair will highlight the region’s white wines, which have earned global recognition, alongside a selection of artisanal food products.
“This is a highly appreciated format that hasn’t been held since 2019,” said Sergio Emidio Bini, the regional councillor for productive activities and tourism. “Seventy companies from our territory — 50 wineries and 20 food producers — will bring the excellence of Friuli Venezia Giulia directly into the heart of Udine.”
The temporary pavilion, outfitted with exhibition furniture previously used at the Vinitaly trade fair in Verona, will house tastings, product displays, and information points for visitors. The design, officials noted, is intended to combine functionality with strong visual impact, giving producers space not only to present but also to tell the stories behind their wines and food.
In addition to tastings, food producers will be permitted to sell packaged goods, offering visitors a chance to take home specialties from the region. Promotional materials, brochures, and on-site staff will provide further background on Friuli Venezia Giulia’s gastronomic heritage.
Tickets, priced at €20, will allow entry for a full day, with reentry permitted through a wristband system. The exhibition will be open daily from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tickets will be available for purchase online in the coming weeks and at the entrance during the event.
According to Bini, the initiative aims to strengthen Friuli Venezia Giulia’s reputation as a destination for wine and food tourism. “Enthusiasts, visitors, and experts will have the opportunity to embark on a journey through the distinctive products of our land,” he said, “with particular emphasis on our internationally acclaimed white wines.”
