Italian President Sergio Mattarella and Slovenian President Nataša Pirc Musar will meet in Koper on Sept. 11 for the reopening of the Collegio dei Nobili, a restored 17th-century landmark that houses Italian-language schools.
The €9.8 million renovation, completed after two years of work, modernized the building while preserving its historic character. The Collegio dei Nobili, founded in 1612, is home to the “Pier Paolo Vergerio” elementary school and the “Gian Rinaldo Carli” high school, both central to the Italian community in Slovenia.
The visit underscores close ties between Italy and Slovenia and their shared commitment to minority rights. The two presidents will also meet with representatives of the Italian National Community and the Italian Union.
Mr. Mattarella is scheduled to arrive in Slovenia on Sept. 10 for talks in Ljubljana, where the leaders are expected to discuss bilateral relations and European issues, including the bloc’s potential enlargement to the Western Balkans.
