The city of Trieste will welcome athletes and spectators on Saturday for the 18th edition of the Triveneto International Meeting – Memorial Jack Benvenuti, set to take place at the “G. Draghicchio” sports field in Cologna. The event is organized by ASD Polisportiva Triveneto and brings together track and field athletes from across the region and beyond.

The meeting was officially presented at a press conference held earlier today in the City Council Hall.

Speaking on behalf of the municipal administration, Trieste’s Councillor for Sport, Elisa Lodi, emphasized the city’s ongoing support for athletics and youth engagement through sport.

Also in attendance were Fabio Scoccimarro, Regional Councillor for the Environment and Energy; Fausto Salvador, president of the provincial FIDAL (Italian Athletics Federation) committee of Trieste; and key figures from Polisportiva Triveneto, including president Alessandro Coppola, vice-president Arturo D’Ascanio, and athlete coordinator Renato Aglì.

Athletes Giovanni Lazzaro and Jamaican sprinter Alana Reid, one of the international stars expected to compete, were present alongside the family of Jack Benvenuti, to whom the event is dedicated. The memory of Giorgia Liberale, a young athlete, will also be honored during the women’s 800-meter race, which bears her name.
