The city’s summer cultural calendar opened its musical chapter over the weekend as the 19th edition of the TriesteLovesJazz Festival began on Friday, July 4, marking a key moment in the Trieste Estate 2025 program. This year, for the first time, the festival will include Piazza Verdi as a new central venue in the heart of the city.
Organized by Casa della Musica/Scuola di Musica 55 and promoted by the Municipality of Trieste, TriesteLovesJazz will run through the summer with 24 events scheduled between July and September. Performances will be held in various iconic locations, including the gardens of the Sartorio and Winckelmann Museums, Piazza Verdi, and the Molo Audace, the latter hosting the festival’s traditional sunrise concert.
The program, curated by artistic director Gabriele Centis—also at the helm of the broader Trieste Estate—features a blend of local talent and renowned Italian, European, and international jazz artists.
The festival opened with a free concert in the garden of the Museo Sartorio by the Organ Madness Trio, featuring Daniele D’Agaro on saxophone and clarinet, Mauro Costantini on Hammond organ, and U.T. Gandhi on drums. The ensemble, active for nearly three decades, was selected to set the tone for a season of diverse and high-caliber jazz performances.
More concerts and artist announcements are expected to follow throughout the summer, as Trieste continues to position itself as a dynamic hub for music and culture on the Adriatic.
