The annual summer sales season will begin on Saturday, July 5, in Trieste and throughout the Friuli Venezia Giulia region. To mark the occasion, the city will host its traditional “Notte dei Saldi,” an evening festival featuring extended store hours, street performances, and the temporary closure of key downtown roads to traffic.

The sales, which begin in the morning, are expected to draw large crowds. Festivities officially start at 7 p.m., when streets such as Corso Italia and Via Mazzini will become pedestrian-only for the evening. The traffic closures are expected to benefit both visitors and business owners, particularly those on Via Mazzini, where merchants have long advocated for reducing vehicle traffic.

Retailers will have the option to keep their shops open until 1 a.m., though hours may vary depending on individual business decisions and customer turnout.

The event will include several cultural and artistic performances. At 8 p.m., young gymnasts will perform in Piazza della Repubblica, while a choir will offer musical entertainment in various parts of the city center. Later in the evening, at 10 p.m., tango dancers are scheduled to perform at the beginning of Corso Italia, contributing to the festive atmosphere.

City officials have indicated that additional programming details will be announced in the coming days.
