It was a season of caps, gowns, and heartfelt farewells at the International School of Trieste, where students from the Early Years program through high school were honored in a series of graduation ceremonies held recently at the school’s Opicina campus.

The ceremonies marked the end of a major chapter for students across the institution: 18 children completed the Early Years program, 24 students graduated from Primary School, 23 from Middle School, and 13 students received their high school diplomas.

In addition to the traditional diploma presentations, several students were recognized for their outstanding achievements. The prestigious Maurizio Fermeglia Memorial Award—named in honor of the late former rector of the University of Trieste and vice president of the International School—was awarded to Juan Pablo Vargas Rodriguez, a graduating senior recognized for his talent and curiosity in the sciences.

Caterina Bonetti received the Premio Ferracini, an award given to a student who best embodies the values and spirit of the school.

The graduation for the Grade 13 class was attended by IST President Alberto Fonzar and Head of School Carrie Pierson, who praised the graduates’ resilience, academic excellence, and commitment to community.

This year’s graduating class also celebrated a series of university acceptances, including offers from top institutions such as Bocconi University and others across Europe and beyond—testament to the school’s growing international profile and rigorous academic standards.

For the International School of Trieste, graduation season is not only a moment of reflection but a celebration of global-minded learners ready to take their next steps.
