Residents of Trieste awoke to clear skies and brisk Bora winds on Monday, as meteorologists forecast a day of moderate gusts, with occasional strong bursts sweeping through the city. According to Osmer, the regional weather service, temperatures are expected to range between 3 and 5 degrees Celsius (37–41°F) in the morning, climbing to a high of 8 to 10 degrees Celsius (46–50°F) in the afternoon.
The weather pattern over Italy is being shaped by a developing high-pressure system over central Europe, which is set to merge in the coming days with the Azores High. Meanwhile, a weakening low-pressure system over the Tyrrhenian Sea is slowly dissipating. This dynamic is drawing dry northeasterly air over northern Italy, reinforcing the region’s signature crisp winter conditions.
For Trieste, known for its history of dramatic Bora winds that can reach hurricane force, today’s forecast remains relatively mild. However, gusts could still prove challenging for pedestrians navigating the city’s historic streets and seafront promenades.
As winter settles in across the region, forecasters expect these dry, stable conditions to persist, offering a welcome break from recent stormy weather.
