Public transportation in Trieste will undergo significant route adjustments on Sunday, May 3, as the city hosts the Trieste Spring Run 2026, local transit operator Trieste Trasporti announced.
The changes, which will remain in effect from early morning until the end of the event, are tied to a series of road closures across the city. Major arteries, including Viale Miramare, sections of State Road 14, and parts of the waterfront known as the Rive, will be closed to traffic in both directions. Several central streets — among them Via Mazzini, Via Roma and Via Imbriani — will also be inaccessible.
In addition, the dedicated bus lane on Via Carducci will be closed between Via Valdirivo and Via Reti, resulting in the temporary removal of a stop at number 11. To compensate, a special lane will be created in the area for buses heading toward Largo Barriera.
The disruptions will affect numerous bus lines, many of which will be shortened, rerouted or partially suspended.
Line 1 will be diverted through Piazza Goldoni and Via Carducci before resuming its regular route. Line 4 services will terminate at Piazza Oberdan, where departures will continue according to the regular timetable. Line 5 will follow modified routes in both directions, passing through key central streets before reconnecting with its usual path.
Line 6 will be limited to the Roiano district, while Line 8 will be rerouted through the city center, bypassing closed waterfront areas. Lines 9, 10 and 11 will also see curtailed routes, with several terminating at Piazza Goldoni.
Other lines, including 15, 24 and 30, will operate on detours that largely redirect buses through Via Carducci and nearby corridors. Line 44 services to Duino will stop at Borgo San Mauro, and Line 51 will have its terminus relocated within Largo Città di Santos.
City officials advised passengers to plan ahead and allow extra travel time, noting that further adjustments may be necessary depending on crowd conditions throughout the day.
