Trieste’s Salone degli Incanti is set to host a compelling dialogue on the intersection of artistic beauty and environmental consciousness. On Saturday, April 18, 2026, the exhibition “SCART: Il lato bello e utile del rifiuto” (The Beautiful and Useful Side of Waste) will feature a special talk titled Dialogue between Art, Creativity, and Sustainability.+2
The event, scheduled from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM, offers a deep dive into a project that has spent nearly three decades turning industrial waste into high art.+1
The Evolution of SCART
The talk features Maurizio Giani, the curator of the exhibition and the visionary behind the SCART project. Giani will trace the project’s 28-year journey, detailing its evolution through collaborations with prestigious institutions, academies, and major corporations.+2
Attendees will learn about the diverse range of SCART’s creations, including:
- Stage Costumes: Ornate outfits designed for Andrea Bocelli’s renowned Teatro del Silenzio.
- Super Robots: A unique partnership with Automobili Lamborghini that brought giant mechanical figures to life using repurposed materials.
A Photographer’s Perspective
Joining the conversation is celebrated fashion photographer Andrea Varani. Known for working with the world’s top models and luxury fashion houses, Varani will share how his collaboration with SCART provided a “virtuous encounter” between the glamour of the runway and the reality of waste.+2
Varani, whose photographs are currently on display at the Salone, will discuss how this experience offered him an innovative new vision for his profession, proving that art can find soul even in what society has discarded.
