Italy’s Conference of Regions and Autonomous Provinces on Thurday nominated Massimiliano Fedriga, the governor of Friuli Venezia Giulia, to serve as president of Agenas, the National Agency for Regional Health Services, following a meeting held in Rome.

During the same session, the conference also designated Roberto Fico, governor of Campania, as a member of the agency’s board of directors.

Mr. Fedriga, who currently serves as president of the Conference of Regions, described the appointment as temporary and framed it as a stabilizing measure for the agency.

“I thank my colleagues for their confidence,” he said in a statement. “I would like to emphasize that this is a transitional role, intended to ensure a gradual return to full operational capacity for the agency.”

Agenas plays a central role in coordinating Italy’s regional health systems, providing technical support and oversight to ensure efficiency and uniform standards across the country’s decentralized healthcare structure.

The nominations will now proceed through the formal approval process required under national regulations.
