The monthly market Un pozzo di occasioni will return to Opicina on Saturday, January 24, 2026, continuing a tradition that takes place on the fourth Saturday of each month. Organized by the cultural association Cose di Vecchie Case in cooperation with the City of Trieste, the event will open at 8 a.m. and is free to the public.
The market, dedicated to small-scale antiques, modern collectibles, and artisanal crafts, will stretch along Via Nazionale, Strada per Vienna, and Via di Prosecco. Exhibitors from across the Friuli Venezia Giulia region will present a curated selection of antique objects, modern-era furnishings, collectibles, and handmade items.
Among the most sought-after offerings are vintage vinyl records, comic books, miniatures, scale models, and other memorabilia, alongside handcrafted goods made of wood, glass, and ceramic. Visitors will also find decorated plates, Murano glass objects, stone and copper jewelry, lacework, crochet items, silk paintings, and other decorative pieces produced by local artisans and hobbyists.
The market takes its name from a former well once located near the Zinzendorf Stele, at the intersection of Strada per Vienna and Via di Prosecco. The monument commemorates Karl von Zinzendorf, governor of Trieste in the late 18th century, who promoted the construction of a major commercial road linking the city to the Karst plateau and onward to Vienna. In 1780, Zinzendorf commissioned the stele to honor Empress Maria Theresa and Emperor Joseph II, under whose reign the infrastructure project was completed.
Organizers describe the market as part of a broader effort to revitalize Opicina’s historic center, drawing both residents and visitors while supporting local businesses.
The next scheduled edition of Un pozzo di occasioni is set for February 28, weather permitting. In the event of heavy rain or strong winds, the market will be canceled.
