Speaking on Friday, 5 December, at the inauguration of the 2025–26 academic year at the University of Trieste, Governor Massimiliano Fedriga reaffirmed that education isn’t just about passing exams — it’s the foundation of a conscious and responsible society. He stressed that universities serve a vital role not only for Friuli Venezia Giulia but for the entire country by cultivating critical thinking rather than rote memorization.
Addressing the national Medicine reform, Fedriga was direct: he had always opposed abolishing the enrollment cap, arguing that the real issue lay in overly complex and sometimes off-target entrance tests. Simply revising those questions, he said, would have been the easiest and most effective solution. For now, he added, we must observe how this year unfolds and be ready to make adjustments if needed.
