On November 4 and 5, the Generali Convention Center in Trieste will once again become the beating heart of Italy’s dialogue on foreign investment and regional innovation as it hosts the third edition of Selecting Italy.

Promoted by the Conference of Regions and Autonomous Provinces and the Friuli Venezia Giulia Region, the annual event serves as a key meeting point between institutions and businesses, highlighting Italy’s regional strengths and its growing appeal to global investors.

Selecting Italy was created to build relationships, foster dialogue, and spark long-term synergies,” said Massimiliano Fedriga, president of both the Conference of Regions and the Friuli Venezia Giulia Region. “In just a few years, it has become one of Italy’s most important platforms for attracting foreign investment. By showcasing the uniqueness of our territories, we strengthen Italy’s ability to draw in talent and capital, paving the way for sustainable, innovative, and competitive growth nationwide.

Innovation at the Core

This year’s edition will open on November 4 with institutional greetings from Alessia Rosolen, Regional Councillor for Labor, and Vannia Gava, Deputy Minister for the Environment. The day’s program includes three key panels introducing Italy’s regional ecosystems, focusing on digital and deep-tech innovationclean technologies, and life sciences—sectors viewed as critical drivers for both environmental transition and economic competitiveness.

Between sessions, networking opportunities will connect regional initiatives with international enterprises, underscoring the event’s dual nature as both a conference and marketplace for ideas, talent, and investment.

National Leaders Take the Stage

The second day will feature a high-level discussion led by President Fedriga, joined by Marco Bucci (Liguria), Marco Marsilio (Abruzzo), and Luca Zaia (Veneto), exploring how regional leadership can accelerate Italy’s economic development.

A subsequent institutional session will include Paolo Zangrillo, Minister for Public Administration, and—via video link—Giancarlo Giorgetti, Minister of Economy and Finance. Antonio Tajani, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, is also expected to attend, along with Valentino Valentini, Deputy Minister for Enterprises and Made in Italy, who will provide an update on national policies for foreign investment attraction.

Adding an international dimension, Mario Vattani, Italy’s Commissioner General for Expo Osaka 2025, will discuss how global events can serve as strategic platforms for promoting Made in Italy excellence and regional specialties.

Training for the Future

The event will conclude on the afternoon of November 5 with the second joint training course organized by the National School of Administration (SNA) and the Conference of Regions. The session will focus on strengthening administrative skills in foreign investment policy, ensuring that Italy’s regional institutions remain competitive and aligned in their strategies.

For Trieste—a city long recognized as a gateway between Central and Eastern Europe—the return of Selecting Italyreaffirms its role as a crossroads of ideas, commerce, and innovation.

The full program of Selecting Italy 2025 is available on the official websites of the Friuli Venezia Giulia Region and the Conference of Regions and Autonomous Provinces.
