On Sunday, September 14, the Castle of San Giusto will open its walls and bastions for an evening guided tour as part of the popular series L’ora di storia (“An Hour of History”). The walk begins at 7 p.m. and lasts about an hour, offering visitors a chance to experience the fortress and its views in the fading light of day.

The tour will trace the castle’s exterior pathways, where the city of Trieste unfolds below against the Adriatic Sea and the rugged Carso plateau. A museum guide will lead participants through the history of the site, highlighting its role as both a defensive stronghold and a symbol of the city.

Attendance is limited, and advance reservations are required by noon on Friday, September 12, through the city’s cultural office. In case of rain, the event will be canceled.

Afterward, visitors may linger at the Bastione Rotondo, where a bar will remain open until midnight, offering drinks alongside panoramic views of the city.

The initiative is organized by the Municipality of Trieste and the Castle of San Giusto Museum, in collaboration with the Bastione Rotondo bar.
