From Friday, July 25 to Monday, July 28, the city of Trieste will host a series of concerts and theatrical performances as part of its annual Trieste Estate festival. Organized by the Municipality of Trieste, the festival aims to celebrate the city’s cultural vitality by offering a diverse program of events, from jazz concerts to dialect theater, with a particular focus on engaging younger audiences.
A highlight of the weekend is the performance by the Jeunesse Musicale World Big Band, considered the world’s leading international youth jazz orchestra. The ensemble will appear on Friday, July 25, at 9 p.m. in Piazza Verdi, with free admission. The concert is part of the TriesteLovesJazz program in collaboration with More Than Jazz.
Comprising 18 accomplished jazz musicians from over 15 countries, the JM World Big Band is known for its dynamic repertoire and international collaborations. Over the years, it has performed in prominent venues and major jazz festivals across Europe and beyond. The orchestra is part of the JM Jazz World program, an initiative of JM International, the oldest and largest nonprofit youth music organization in the world, established in 1945.
This year’s orchestra is led by Luis Bonilla, a trombonist, composer, bandleader, recording artist, and educator who has worked with many of the most influential names in the global jazz scene.
In addition to music, Trieste Estate will feature a variety of theatrical performances, including works in the local dialect, further reflecting the region’s cultural heritage and community spirit.
The full program continues throughout the weekend, offering Trieste residents and visitors a vibrant mix of live entertainment in some of the city’s most iconic public spaces.
