Beginning June 30, the University of Trieste will once again open its doors to high school students through its annual summer orientation initiative. Now in its 11th year, the week-long program aims to give students in their third and fourth years of high school an opportunity to explore academic disciplines and experience university life firsthand.
Seventeen summer courses, known as Moduli Formativi Estivi, have been activated across a broad spectrum of fields—from engineering to architecture, literature to political science, mathematics to economics, and health sciences. The curriculum includes topics such as mental health, gender perspectives in global affairs, human-centered design, biomedical analysis, and the workings of global economics, as well as explorations of biographical and autobiographical writing.
The program maintains strong momentum following last year’s participation numbers, which reached 700 students. Organizers say this year’s interest remains high, with attendees not only from the Friuli Venezia Giulia region but also from neighboring Veneto, including cities such as Treviso, Venice, and Belluno.
Through lectures, workshops, and hands-on activities, the initiative seeks to help students better understand their academic interests and potential career paths while offering them an early look at university-level study.
